Responsibilities
Design and build distributed backend systems that power customer facing products at Walmart scale
Own service architecture, data flows, and API design to support fast, reliable experiences
Balance scalability, reliability, latency, and cost as you operate systems in production
Evolve services using modern cloud, container, observability, and CI/CD practices
Troubleshoot complex production issues and drive improvements through clear postmortems
Mentor engineers and help shape long term architectural direction across services
Partner with product and platform teams to build solutions that support long term business goals
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years' experience in software engineering or related area
7 years' experience in software engineering or related area
10–15+ years of backend engineering experience. (Java)
Deep expertise in distributed systems, data, and cloud infrastructure
Built highly available, highly scalable services and the tooling to support them
Strong mentorship and architectural leadership across product lines
7–10+ years of backend engineering experience. (Java)
Ownership of major frontend surfaces or platform level capabilities
Strong instincts for system design and partnership with backend and cross functional teams
Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction across teams
Preferred
Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area
Background in creating inclusive digital experiences
Demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards
Knowledge of assistive technologies
Integrating digital accessibility seamlessly
Knowledge of accessibility best practices
