Public Relations Assistant Account Executive

Gear Communications is a women-owned public relations and marketing agency located just outside Boston. They are seeking an Assistant Account Executive to join their Beauty & Housewares teams, where the role involves media relations, client support, and campaign execution in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

Conduct research on client industries, trends, competitors, and the media landscape to support PR strategies
Assist with drafting press materials, including press releases, media pitches, and briefing documents
Support media outreach efforts, including building and maintaining media lists and editorial calendars
Assist with media pitching to secure coverage across multiple digital outlets, print publications and broadcast
Monitor and track coverage, and compile coverage reports and recaps for clients
Support day-to-day execution across multiple Beauty and Housewares accounts
Draft weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual client reports and meeting agendas
Assist with logistics for client events, media tours, and press trips
Participate in agency brainstorms and contribute creative ideas
Manage daily product shipments, mailers, and gifting initiatives
Source products for media mailers and seeding programs
Track and manage client product inventory
Assist with managing interns
Support social media initiatives, including content support and basic community management, as needed
Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, note-taking and maintaining organizational systems
Stay informed on industry trends and PR best practices

Required

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field
0–2 years of experience in public relations, communications, or a related field (Internship experience considered)
Demonstrates a high level of maturity, resourcefulness, and poise in a professional setting
Strong written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills
Holds a strong work ethic and standard for which tasks and projects are completed
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Maintains a positive and professional attitude in all situations
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects while remaining calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Ability to consistently meet deadlines
Proactive approach to problem-solving
A self-starter with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Proficiency in computer applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Canva and Wix is a plus
Ability to travel up to 25%

Preferred

Knowledge of Muck Rack and Critical Mention preferred
Familiarity with social media platforms and basic analytics
