8+ years expSkywalk Global is seeking a Senior Software Configuration/Release Engineer responsible for automating and maintaining cloud configuration and infrastructure processes across GTA’s AWS environments. This role involves designing, automating, and ensuring the security and compliance of cloud platforms through effective management and collaboration with various teams.

Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain configuration management processes, policies, and standards for AWS environments
Build, deploy, and enhance Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform to automate provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management of AWS resources (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, ACM)
Manage and optimize multiple environments (Dev, Test, Stage, Prod) ensuring configuration consistency and security
Support automation pipelines using the AWS Code Suite: Code Commit, Code Build, CodeDeploy, and CodePipeline
Work closely with DevOps teams to support release activities, deployments, rollbacks, configuration updates, and environment readiness
Design and maintain automated AWS backup solutions to ensure data integrity, resiliency, and compliance with state retention policies
Implement automated patching workflows for cloud infrastructure to maintain required security and compliance posture
Conduct periodic audits of environment configuration, patch levels, backup integrity, and certificate compliance; recommend and implement improvements
Manage installation, renewal, rotation, and validation of SSL/TLS certificates across AWS services
Ensure secure communication configurations and alignment with state and federal security requirements
Maintain detailed, accurate documentation of configuration baselines, IaC standards, module usage, and environment changes
Provide training and guidance to team members on Terraform, AWS infrastructure best practices, backup strategies, patch automation, and certificate management
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent professional training, certification, or experience
Eight (8) years of configuration management experience
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to cloud optimization
Ability to break down complex problems, create tactical plans, and contribute to strategic improvements
Attention to detail with strong diagnostic and problem-investigation abilities
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational and planning abilities
Self-motivated, collaborative, and able to work in fast-paced environments
Required 7 Years of experience working closely with DevOps, Security, and Infrastructure teams to support stable, reliable statewide services
Required 3 Years of experience building, deploying, and enhancing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform to automate provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management
Required 7 Years of experience supporting automation pipelines using the AWS Code Suite: CodeCommit, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, and CodePipeline
Required 7 Years of experience designing and maintaining automated AWS Backup, Patching solutions to ensure data integrity, resiliency, and compliance with state retention policies
Required 7 Years of experience managing installation, renewal, rotation, and validation of SSL/TLS certificates across AWS services
Required 3 Years of experience maintaining detailed, accurate documentation of configuration baselines, IaC standards, module usage, and environment changes
Required 3 Years of experience providing training and guidance to team members on Terraform, AWS infrastructure best practices, backup strategies, patch automation, and certificate management
Preferred
Scripting experience (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation within AWS/Terraform
AWS Certification(s) and/or Terraform Certification
Experience working with state or local government environments
Experience with vendor oversight or management
Experience with project management or Agile delivery tools
Experience with organizational change management (OCM)
