InternSt. Peter's Health is offering a summer internship opportunity designed for undergraduate nursing students. The nursing intern will assist with providing safe, personal patient care under direct supervision and will engage in various nursing interventions and patient support tasks.

Responsibilities
Completes assigned nursing interventions, including assisting the patient with activities of daily living and taking vital signs
Performs tasks to promote patient comfort and safety
Promptly and courteously responds to any call light
Consistently conducts regular rounds and observes patient activity
Promptly and clearly observes and communicates with the RN any noted changes in the patient’s condition and pertinent information regarding the needs of the patient and significant others
Performs other tasks as assigned, including environmental services and preparing/transporting patients for diagnostic services
Delivers personalized and compassionate care to all, especially those most in need
Qualification
Required
The ability to read, write, speak, hear and comprehend the English language
The physical, technical and cognitive ability, as well as the manual dexterity to use patient care equipment
Demonstrates competency with specific clinical skills and techniques that have been completed through this level of the nursing program
Must be currently enrolled in nursing program
Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) prior to or upon hire
Must demonstrate exceptional customer service and communication skills regardless of situation encountered
Demonstrate organizational skills, and prioritization abilities to ensure delivery of optimum
Ability to achieve cognitive, organization and emotional maturity to deal effectively with multiple tasks, stresses, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customers
Possesses interpersonal/communication skills necessary for effective, non-judgmental, and empathetic patient care and customer relations
Open to feedback and open to a changing environment, which requires flexibility in scheduling and department assignments
Preferred
High school diploma or GED preferred plus completion of junior level or ASN 3 nursing program
