Business Development Manager
Ruscilli Construction is an employee-owned company focused on driving growth through strategic relationships. The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, managing the sales process, and expanding the company’s market presence.
Responsibilities
Proactively research and identify new business leads through market analysis, networking, and outreach
Develop and manage the execution of the sales plan to align with company goals
Conduct targeted follow-up campaigns to engage prospective clients and track progress
Analyze historical and current market data to forecast opportunities and competitive positioning
Promote company capabilities across multiple market sectors and delivery methods
Establish and maintain profitable relationships with key decision makers, A/E firms, developers, industry influencers, and strategic partners
Maintain ongoing communication with past clients to drive repeat business and referral potential
Represent the company at trade shows, association meetings, and industry networking functions to monitor market conditions and strengthen relationships
Lead the preparation and delivery of RFQs/RFPs, ensuring high-quality submissions and well-prepared teams for interviews
Partner with internal staff to scope initial project costs and provide input during early planning stages
Coordinate and manage the proposal process with marketing, estimating, project management, and senior leadership
Participate in pursuit strategy meetings and contribute to proposal development
Provide ongoing progress updates on business development activities and performance metrics to management
May include mentoring junior business development staff or coordinating cross-functional pursuit teams
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
3 - 4 years' prior industry related business development experience
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Proven knowledge and execution of successful development strategies
Focused and goal-oriented
Ability to interpret technical documents, financial reports, and legal materials
Skilled in writing and presenting business communications to executive audiences
Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex problems and make data-driven decisions
Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. for event setup or client materials
Visual acuity required for reading and reviewing documents
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field
5+ years of experience in construction sales, real estate development, or business development
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a client-first mindset
Ability to analyze market trends and translate insights into actionable strategies
Knowledge of RFQ/RFP processes, interview preparation, and proposal development
Comfortable with CRM platforms, lead tracking tools, and digital outreach methods
Knowledge of construction delivery methods and industry terminology
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Professional presence and ability to represent the company externally
