The role includes hands-on development for bug fixes, enhancements, and operational support, as well as leading the conversion of existing Microsoft Access applications to Oracle APEX.

Responsibilities
Provide expert-level support for Oracle APEX applications in production, including troubleshooting, bug fixes, performance tuning, and minor enhancements
Monitor application health and proactively identify and resolve issues
Collaborate with end users and product owners to understand and address production support needs
Lead the conversion of existing Microsoft Access applications to Oracle APEX, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and deployment
Translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable APEX solutions
Work closely with stakeholders to ensure functional and technical requirements are met
Serve as a subject matter expert in Oracle APEX, providing guidance, best practices, and mentorship to internal development teams
Assist in building internal capability to independently support and develop Oracle APEX applications
Develop and maintain APEX coding standards, documentation, and technical guidelines
Participate in code reviews to ensure quality, security, and adherence to standards
Collaborate with database administrators on schema changes, performance optimization, and data migration
Coordinate effectively with external vendors involved in the Oracle Forms to APEX conversion effort
Qualification
Required
7+ years of hands-on professional experience developing applications using Oracle Application Express (APEX)
Strong proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL, including advanced queries, procedures, functions, packages, and triggers
Proven experience designing, developing, and deploying complex APEX applications end-to-end
Hands-on experience with APEX components such as pages, regions, items, reports, forms, dynamic actions, themes, and templates
Strong understanding of APEX security, including authentication and authorization schemes
Solid knowledge of Oracle Database concepts and architecture
Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as they relate to APEX development
Demonstrated experience converting or migrating applications from platforms such as Microsoft Access or Oracle Forms to Oracle APEX
Proven ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues in a production environment
Experience with performance tuning of APEX applications and underlying SQL/PL/SQL code
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative and mentoring mindset
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience
Preferred
Experience using version control systems (e.g., Git) in an APEX development environment
Prior exposure to Oracle Forms or Microsoft Access applications
Experience working in a government or public sector environment
Familiarity with Agile or Scrum development methodologies
HTML, CSS, JavaScript
