Responsibilities
Management of income tax compliance process for consolidated group of companies, including preparation of quarterly and year-end federal income tax provisions and returns
Developing, analyzing, and documenting tax planning opportunities, tax compliance issues and other special projects
Resolution of issues raised during Internal Revenue Service examinations
Analyze and implement new developments in tax law and communicate relevant changes to company personnel
Effective communication with financial reporting personnel
Active pursuit of individual professional development and continuing education opportunities
Qualification
Required
10+ years of tax compliance experience in public accounting or tax department of a life insurance company
5+ years managing a team of tax professionals
Accounting degree required; CPA designation required
Excellent analytical, technical and tax accounting skills with proficiency in US GAAP (ASC 740), US Statutory (SSAP 101), US corporate taxation of life insurance companies, and consolidated returns
Strong tax research skills/abilities
Ability to lead and develop a team of professionals for skill development and a collaborative working environment
Strong managerial and verbal/written communication skills
Strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to contribute to a culture of excellence and accountability
Ability to interact with others in the department and Company while demonstrating individual initiative, resourcefulness, and independent thinking
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
Preferred
