Electrical Controls Engineer
S&S Worldwide, Inc. is the largest U.S. manufacturer of amusement rides and roller coasters, known for its innovation and safety. The Electrical Controls Engineer will be responsible for developing control systems for major rides and roller coasters, including hardware design and installation supervision.
Responsibilities
Development and construction of new project electrical systems
Creation of documentation, including functional specifications, IO lists, network architectures, calculations, schematics, and testing documentation
Hardware and layout design, conduit and cabling requirements, assembly, and creation of factory checklists and acceptance tests
Design adherence to UL508A, NEC, ASTM F24, and other applicable codes as specified by project requirements
Factory acceptance testing
Installation supervision and on-site start-up of control systems, including troubleshooting
Hardware and software support for existing projects
Establishment of strong working relationships with clients, consultants, and co-workers
Ability to work independently and collaboratively on integration and control of mechanical system designs
Timely preparation of work progress reports and other daily communications
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
7-10 years of experience designing electrical systems
B.S. or M.S. in Electrical or Controls Engineering from an accredited institution
Practical experience in hardware design for control systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Familiarity with PLCs, motion control systems, sensor and actuator technologies, and user interfaces
Willingness to travel extensively, both domestically and internationally, as required
Preferred
Solid computer skills, including proficiency in SolidWorks, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar CAD systems
Design experience in multi-disciplinary projects, coordinating with mechanical, structural, and electrical engineering teams
Experience with international amusement ride design standards
Familiarity with Allen Bradley software (RSLogix500, RSLogix5000, Studio5000, RSLinx)
