ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE SPECIALIST

The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join their professional finance team. This role involves providing assistance and support in processing financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards, and preparing financial reports.

Responsibilities

Reviews and approves transactions in various accounting, procurement, or banking systems
Reconciles various types of transactions
Maintains standard work documents
Prepares and reviews exception reports and performs other tasks and functions appropriate to the classification
Assists with other accounting and finance functions
Analyzes, processes or approves fiscal transactions and financial information
Reconciles, verifies, and compares entries and reports
Prepare various financial reports
Resolves accounting-related issues with internal and external stakeholders
Maintains documentation accuracy in accordance with policies and procedures
Supports internal and external audit requirements
Utilizes various accounting systems to retrieve, analyze and identify any inconsistencies
Researches, identifies and resolves potential problem areas
Effectively communicates with other departments and management to obtain information and/or to correct transactions
Reviews substantiation of information presented
Reports variances to upper management or department heads
Serves as a technical expert on accounting issues and as a liaison to ensure compliance with internal and external financial, accounting, and administrative policies and procedures
Implements and communicates new accounting or financial procedures
Surveys operations to ascertain accounting needs to develop and provide recommendations
Continually assesses areas to build operational efficiencies and improve internal processes
Routinely reviews and updates process documentation and Standards Of Work (SOW) to ensure they are current
Provides recommendations to improve information flow, process efficiency and customer satisfaction
Drives on State business
Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

Required

Experience in governmental accounting or budgeting
Experience in the financial industry
Assistance and support to staff, complex business offices and agency programs
Proper and accurate processing of transactions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and/or the Inmate Trust Accounts
Preparation, examination, and analysis of accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance with the State of Arizona Accounting Manual (SAAM), Agency policy, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), or other specific accounting requirements
Review and approval of transactions in various accounting, procurement, or banking systems
Reconciliation of various types of transactions
Maintenance of standard work documents
Preparation and review of exception reports and performance of other tasks and functions appropriate to the classification
Assistance with other accounting and finance functions
Analysis, processing or approval of fiscal transactions and financial information
Reconciliation, verification, and comparison of entries and reports
Preparation of various financial reports
Resolution of accounting-related issues with internal and external stakeholders
Maintenance of documentation accuracy in accordance with policies and procedures

Knowledge of federal and state laws, statutes, and regulations pertinent to the area of the assignment
Knowledge of governmental and/or office accounting practices and procedures
Knowledge of various spreadsheet and word processing software to produce reports and respond to requests for information
Knowledge of reconciliation of bank accounts, fiscal reports and form preparation
Knowledge of identifying and resolving discrepancies
Knowledge of financial research methodologies
Skill in work management and leadership
Skill in analysis and interpretation of financial data
Skill in work techniques required in maintaining accounting records through an automated accounting system
Skill in verbal and written communications
Skill in establishing and maintaining positive interpersonal relationships
Skill in research methodology
Ability to utilize various office productivity software such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and Google
Ability to write correspondence
Ability to create reports
Ability to compile statistics

Preferred

Five (5) years of accounting, finance, budgeting or financial industry experience
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or related field (Not required)
