Responsibilities
Performs professional engineering work reviewing permitted engineering plans and specifications for the construction of public works projects such as streets, parking facilities, storm and sanitary systems, and environmental programs
Responsible for the review of permitted plans submitted by the permit applicant to ensure construction is in compliance with Federal, State, and City standards and engineering principles, methods, and techniques
Assist the applicant and coordinate with other City personnel to ensure the permits meet the appropriate codes, rules, and regulations
Review and verify all stormwater criteria are met
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
Civil Engineer I: six (6) months or more of experience in public works engineering; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Civil Engineer II: two (2) or more years experience in public works engineering; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Civil Engineer III: four (4) or more years experience in public works engineering; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Civil Engineer IV: four (4) or more years experience in public works engineering; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Engineering Intern License required for Civil Engineer III
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida desired for Civil Engineer I, II, III
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida required for Civil Engineer IV
Great people and communication skills highly desired
Some positions may require a valid Florida Driver's License
Preferred
Experience in the City of Orlando and Water Management District rules and regulations and FEMA rules and regulations as it pertains to site development
