Responsibilities

Supporting statewide and local preparedness for natural and human-caused incidents that may impact life, health, infrastructure, and property
Assisting with the development, implementation, and management of a modern and effective exercise program
Overseeing, coordinating, and evaluating exercise activities across all 19 Alaska boroughs, engaging with communities that represent over 90% of the state’s population

Required

One year of entry professional level experience mitigating against, preparing for, responding to, or recovering from emergencies, disasters, or terrorist events
Two years of entry professional level experience either creating contingency plans, conducting exercises to evaluate plans and training, responding to events creating civil disruption or environmental disturbance, or coordinating the recovery from such events
A bachelor's degree, in any field, from an accredited college; AND One year of entry professional level experience either creating contingency plans, conducting exercises to evaluate plans and training, responding to events creating civil disruption or environmental disturbance, or coordinating the recovery from such events
A valid Alaska driver's license is required
Some positions require the incumbent to obtain a federal security clearance
Work may require periodic, 24-hour on-call duty and travel to remote locations in small aircraft and boats, and may involve exposure to inherently hazardous or potentially dangerous environmental conditions
Candidates must pass a federal background security check to access military facilities like JBER and maintain security clearance throughout employment, adhering to all security protocols
The role demands physical and mental stamina to handle rapid deployment, extended shifts, austere living conditions, and high-stress emergency response situations that may involve living in tents, cabins, or other Spartan accommodations
