Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day technical support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, peripherals, and enterprise applications
Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computer hardware, operating systems, and software applications
Manage software deployments, updates, licensing, and SaaS applications
Assist with basic administration and monitoring of servers, networks, and security systems
Support GIS applications and data workflows in coordination with GIS specialists and departmental users
Assist with application support, including troubleshooting ERP and line-of-business systems
Maintain accurate documentation for systems, procedures, configurations, and asset inventories
Support technology initiatives related to data analytics, automation, and AI-enabled tools
Ensure adherence to cybersecurity best practices and assist with vulnerability mitigation
911 software and hardware maintenance and management
Subject to after-hours call-ins to repair/maintain systems for emergency operations
Perform other duties as assigned
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues in person, remotely, or by phone
Set up and deploy new equipment, including workstations, printers, mobile devices, and related peripherals
Install and maintain operating systems, productivity software, GIS tools, and specialized applications
Assist with network-related tasks such as workstation connectivity, cabling, wireless access, and basic firewall or switch configuration
Monitor system logs, error reports, and security alerts to identify and resolve issues
Assist with malware protection, patch management, and endpoint security tools
Support database-driven applications and perform basic SQL queries or reporting as needed
Collaborate with developers, vendors, and internal teams on software troubleshooting and enhancements
Assist in maintaining GIS data, applications, and integrations with other systems
Participate in testing and rollout of new systems, updates, and technology solutions
Provide user training and create help documentation and knowledgebase articles

Required

Bachelor's degree or 60 hours of education in computer sciences or other related field from an accredited college/university, or a high school diploma and 10 years of work experience in computer/network maintenance and repair
Must possess and maintain a valid Illinois driver's license
Pass an extensive police background check
Meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) requirements
Pass drug and alcohol tests
Strong working knowledge of current Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, desktop hardware, and common business applications
Experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting software and hardware
Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, switches, firewalls)
Familiarity with cybersecurity fundamentals, endpoint protection, and safe computing practices
Basic understanding of databases, SQL queries, and application troubleshooting
Exposure to GIS concepts, mapping applications, or spatial data systems
Awareness of scripting, coding, or automation concepts (e.g., Python, PowerShell, JavaScript)
Ability to learn and adapt to emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools and platforms
Strong problem-solving, documentation, and customer service skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

Experience supporting ERP or SaaS-based enterprise applications
Familiarity with ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Server, or similar GIS platforms
Experience reviewing logs, troubleshooting application errors, or supporting SDLC processes
Exposure to cloud platforms, automation tools, or AI-assisted systems
Exposure to NCIC security protocols
