STATE DIRECTOR, SUBSTANCE USE PROGRAMS

Abraxas Youth & Family Services is seeking a dynamic and experienced State Director of Substance Use Programs to lead statewide efforts addressing substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery. This leadership role involves shaping strategies to improve outcomes for individuals and families affected by substance use disorders while overseeing program operations and ensuring quality and compliance with standards.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement a comprehensive statewide strategy for substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery programs
Direct all substance use program operations, including inpatient and partial hospitalization services, ensuring clinical excellence and adherence to accreditation standards (Joint Commission, etc.)
Monitor program outcomes, quality indicators, and compliance with professional and regulatory standards to ensure continuous improvement
Partner with local, state, and federal agencies to align resources and advocate for supportive policies and funding
Design and launch new programs and initiatives that address emerging community needs
Provide guidance, support, and supervision to program managers and staff, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence
Represent the organization in community forums, partnerships, and advocacy efforts to strengthen the statewide system of care

Required

Doctorate in Psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) or Master's Degree in Social Work or Clinical Psychology required
Minimum of 5 years of management experience in substance use services
Licensed Psychologist, LCPC, or LCSW required
Proven knowledge of evidence-based practices in substance use prevention and treatment
Familiarity with individual, family, and group therapy modalities
Understanding of crisis and behavior management, assessments, and age-specific developmental needs
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills

Preferred

CADC certification strongly preferred
Experience with grant writing, fundraising, and resource development
Demonstrated ability to build cross-sector partnerships and lead multidisciplinary teams
