Building Maintenance Mechanic I/II

Responsibilities

Provides maintenance and repair to various City facilities; troubleshoots, calibrates, repairs or replaces components
Performs upkeep and repair for plumbing fixtures; trouble shoots, repairs and winterizes plumbing systems
Diagnoses and repairs doors; installs a variety of locksets
Completes safety trainings to ensure safety for building occupants, visitors and self protection from various building hazards; acts as first responder for fire alarms
Oversees outside contractor work for projects
Enters and receives computer data for work orders, security video monitoring, lighting control, utility readings, materials procurement and weekly time sheets
Working knowledge of building maintenance trades including plumbing, basic electrical, carpentry, and general repairs
Ability to read work orders, manuals, diagrams, blueprints, and safety documentation
Assists in troubleshooting and problem-solving building systems
Ability to enter and receive computer data for work orders, security video monitoring, lighting control, utility readings, materials procurement and timesheets
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and respond to emergency situations
Performs related work as required

Required

High school diploma (or GED equivalent)
At least two (2) years of related work experience in a variety of trades or construction work
Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license
