Assistant Professor, Asian American Studies (with an emphasis in Asian American or Pacific Islander/Native Pacific Studies)

Responsibilities
Development and teaching of introductory and core courses in Asian American studies and ethnic studies
Development of courses in their area(s) of specialization
Producing scholarship or creative work commensurate with the requirements for tenure
Contributing to and participating in the life and development of the department
Advising students
Serving on committees
Participating in the broader university and disciplinary communities
Qualification
Required
Ph.D. in ethnic studies or related field, with an emphasis in Asian American or Pacific Islander/Native Pacific studies, by the time of appointment
Ability to teach a wide range of Asian American studies and ethnic studies courses
Demonstrated commitment to and excellence in undergraduate teaching
Strong record of scholarly or creative accomplishments appropriate to the level of appointment
Demonstrated commitment to department/university, professional, and community service
Experience in working collaboratively with colleagues
Ability to balance excellent teaching, scholarship/creative activity, and service
Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with students from intersecting marginalized social groups
Preferred
Emphases in history; cultural studies (literature, digital/media studies, music); colonialism, empire, and war; queer of color theories; women of color feminist theories; diaspora; and/or community and social movements
Interdisciplinary, intersectional and/or comparative approaches
Evidence of effective use of a variety of instructional methods and learning modalities
Evidence of successful scholarly/creative works and publications
Evidence of engagement with student co-curricular activities and Asian American or Pacific Islander/Native Pacific communities
