Responsibilities

Train new and newly promoted staff in benefit program areas: Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) and Family and Children's (FCH) Medicaid, Adult Medicaid, Work First & Childcare Subsidy
Conduct training on existing and new benefit program policy and procedures
Provide one-on-one employee training support and mentoring of staff
Perform quality assurance/data tasks and staff development
Provide feedback to benefit program supervisors regarding trainee progress and additional training needs
Participate during audits, monitoring, and reviews
Develop training materials/modules as needed
Answer specific eligibility questions and interpret policy for case situations
Exercise prudent judgment in all decisions
Respond to disasters as needed in accordance with Cumberland County DSS policy

Required

Two years of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience
Extensive knowledge of one or more of the following programs: Food and Nutrition, Family and Children's Medicaid, Adult Medicaid, Work First & Childcare Subsidy policies, and procedures
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret rules, regulations, and procedures
Ability to communicate with clients/applicants, the public at large, and public officials to obtain data, and to explain and interpret rules, regulations, and procedures
Ability to instruct and to evaluate the work of lower level employees
Ability to perform caseworker functions within structured time frames
Law enforcement background check is required
Has or is able to obtain a valid North Carolina Drivers License
This position will require assisting in emergency and/or disaster situations

Preferred

Graduation from a four-year accredited college or university and related customer service experience and two years of Income Maintenance Caseworker experience OR two years of Income Maintenance Caseworker experience in a NC DSS agency
