Responsibilities
Pathway Interns will work directly as a functioning member of multiple teams within Nelnet
Interns will rotate through a variety of business departments across the enterprise, adding value to projects already in place or creating new ones to own yourself
In addition, they will collaborate with other interns to complete multiple projects based on real business problems Nelnet faces today
Through this program, we have scheduled events, programming, networking, and mentorship opportunities that interns will be expected to participate in

Interns in this track will have the opportunity to work with Workday program fundamentals and system administration teams to support our human resources and finance teams
Workday connects our teams with financial data in real time, delivering critical information to support the business in making critical strategic decisions
We're looking for interns with a passion for business but who can do more than push the buttons
Workday Pathway Interns need to have curiosity and wonder, and a desire to execute under the guidance of experienced professionals in our core Workday functions
Available departments to rotate through include: Workday (Program), Workday (Systems Administration), HRIS (HR Systems), FINS (Financial Reporting)
Projects may include: Presenting project updates, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders in clear, professional formats
Gathering requirements for new Workday initiatives by collaborating with HR, Finance, and technical teams
Partnering with stakeholders to gather details, clarify needs, and problem-solve challenges related to system enhancements
Reviewing and implementing ideas submitted by the business to improve processes or add functionality
Conducting deep dives into the Workday system to explore new add-on features and assess their impact
Assisting with configuration updates and enhancements within Workday to support evolving business needs
Documenting processes and creating user-friendly guides for new features or updates
Supporting testing and validation of new Workday features before deployment
Qualification
Required
Enrolled in a 4-year degree, preferable sophomore or junior status, in majors such as Business, Human Resources, IT or Finance with a strong aptitude for technology
Strong business acumen with the ability to understand processes and translate them into system requirements
High-level technical understanding—comfortable navigating enterprise systems and learning new technology quickly (Workday experience is a plus but not required)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools for reporting and validation tasks
Experience in roles or coursework involving problem-solving, process documentation, or requirements gathering
Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and maintain accuracy
Innovative ideas, research strategies, and a critical eye to details
Has the necessary network infrastructure to work virtually if needed
Can effectively problem-solve independently
Is self-motivated, accountable, and driven to maximize opportunities presented in the internship
Possesses exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
Is comfortable with some degree of ambiguity and able to adapt to multiple rotations throughout the academic year
Willing to share new ideas (with interns and full-time associates), while recognizing feedback as an opportunity for professional growth
Can work effectively independently or in a team-based environment
Ideally, will be a sophomore or junior in college during the internship term, though all students will be considered
Understands how to manage time between school and work responsibilities
Must be able to work on-site in Lincoln, NE, and work at least 15-20 hours/week consistently
Is able to fulfill all hours within normal business operating hours (Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm CST)
