Parking Control Specialist
NEOGOV is seeking a Parking Control Specialist for the City of La Puente. This role involves conducting code enforcement inspections, enforcing municipal codes related to safety and parking, and interacting with the public to address parking violations and complaints.

Responsibilities
Patrols City streets and neighborhoods to enforce motor vehicle and parking control laws and regulations; identifies vehicle and parking control violations and determines, write and/or issues citations or warnings in accordance with City and state laws, regulations, ordinances and procedures; responds to calls regarding parking violations and complaints; patrols daily street sweeping routes and issues citations to parked vehicles impeding street sweeper routes
Interacts with the public on an ongoing basis; receives, researches, and responds to parking vehicle enforcement questions, issues, and complaints; provides information to the public on parking regulations and ordinances and citations
Reports traffic accidents, traffic hazards and missing, vandalized or faded street signs; potential violations of City codes and policies and City ordinances related to zoning, housing, animal welfare and safety, building, health and safety, fire safety, and property maintenance violations that are observed
Responds to customer complaints and conducts field investigations of abandoned and inoperative vehicles, vehicles with multiple violations and other vehicle code violations; issues warning and citations; coordinates the towing and impound of abandoned/ inoperative vehicles or vehicles in violation of other codes and ordinances; initiates time tracks and updates case information in the City system
Downloads and uploads handheld computer data to the parking enforcement processing system; updates handheld computer programs
Patrols and monitors City parks and facilities to ensure the safety and security of the public; enforces City rules, regulations, codes and ordinances at City parks; offers assistance to park visitors and answers questions; observes and reports any hazards, maintenance concerns, or suspicious activity within the park
Monitors City park security cameras for illegal or suspicious activity; dispatches field units to respond to requests in reporting software system related to parking, safety concerns, or other reported issues; logs incidents, dispatch activity, and observations accurately for daily records
Completes detailed incident reports when significant observations are made or incidents occur
Provides security, traffic control, and safety support at City events
Performs other related duties, as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School graduation or G.E.D. equivalent is required, preferably supplemented by formal code enforcement, public enforcement, or training in a related field
Valid Class C California driver's license, acceptable driving record, and proof of insurance in compliance with the City's Vehicle Insurance Policy standards
General characteristics of parking restrictions and prohibitions of the California Vehicle Code
City Municipal Code and ordinances
Health and Safety Codes
Principles, practices, methods and techniques of code enforcement and parking enforcement
Safe driving principles and practices
Enforce provisions of the City Municipal Code, State Vehicle Code and related safety regulations, and ordinances with efficiency and impartiality
Learn geography of the City, including the location and layout of the street system
Respond to inquiries, complaints and requests for service in a fair, tactful and firm manner
Identify code sections which pertain to potential violations
Operate computer hardware and use code enforcement database and word processing applications software
Operate a mobile radio and cellular telephone
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Understand and follow oral and written instructions
Work independently in the absence of supervision
Establish, maintain and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
