COMMERCIAL LENDING OFFICER
Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) is seeking a Commercial Lending Officer to join their Commercial Lending Department in Madison. The role involves evaluating, structuring, and placing resources by assessing information and data, with a focus on multifamily and economic development product lines.

Responsibilities
Oversee, guide, and execute, as needed, underwriting funding requests across all product lines (Multifamily, LIHTC or Economic Development projects). Assess financial strength of the project and sponsor capacity by reviewing financial statements etc. to measure risk and recommend resolutions
Review and finalize due diligence documents in preparing the final decisions by resolving all gaps in conjunction with management. Deliver written and oral presentation with succinct information supported by documented analysis and data specific to the transaction, and other relevant information such as the market, borrower, capacity, deal strength, programmatic requirements, and mission alignment
Co-present at loan committees, with primary focus on the risk aspect of the transaction and justification for acceptable level of risk. Work closely with the Business Development Officer and management to outline diverse conclusions and opinions on forming a strong business
Support Commercial Lending Analyst/ Underwriter in resolving complex issues in loan closing, loan conversions and tax credit workload. Underwrite and score LIHTC and other applications
Lead and/or collaborate on the efforts to design product offerings, process improvements, documentation, policy and procedures, and system enhancements
Lead various departmental activities such as multiple reporting needs, regulatory exams, audits, research and exploring creative solutions
Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on various product offerings, Qualified Allocation Plan and strategic priority goals. Collaborates with Management in offering training, presentations, and public speaking
Perform or assist with other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in business, real estate, finance, or related field; AND a minimum of 5 years of related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job listed above
Valid Driver's License Required
Mastery in underwriting principles including debt sizing, trend analysis, risk analysis and mitigation
Deep understanding of market and external factors of role of public finance
Experience working with housing revenue bonds, low-income housing tax credits, and other governmental sources
Risk assessment principles and practices
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience in preparing reports and making presentations to facilitate major decisions
Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and regulations
Proficiency in MS Office suite and other database software
Attention to detail, and ability to troubleshoot for process improvement
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure
Strong adherence to confidentiality in working with clients and vendors
