Responsibilities

Operate equipment and tools for installation and maintenance of irrigation systems and pool/fountain pump systems; and performs general maintenance tasks in area of assigned responsibility
Landscaping and facilities maintenance including, but not limited to, mowing, weed eating, and edging
Perform regular system inspection, maintenance and repairs of irrigation and pump systems throughout the park systems
Perform debris and trash removal in assigned areas of responsibility
Performs vehicle, equipment, and tool maintenance for work assignments
Supports other divisions with special events and projects as needed
Performs all other related duties as assigned

Required

High School Diploma or GED
Six (6) months experience in irrigation and/or pump systems for public parks, pools and fountains
Must obtain an irrigation technician license or Certified Pool Operator certification within 6 months of hire
Must submit to and pass a criminal background, pre-employment drug test, pre-placement medical examination, and job placement assessment (JPA)
Must possess a valid State of Texas Driver's License Class 'C' and good driving record as defined by City policy
Knowledge of landscape maintenance procedures
Knowledge of irrigation installation and maintenance procedures
Knowledge of irrigation systems and/or pumps
Maintenance and service procedures for pump systems
Skilled in learning and using proper techniques in the maintenance of assigned areas
Skilled in taking and following both verbal and written instructions
Skilled in communicating with supervisors and peers, both verbally and in writing
Exhibiting the skills necessary to operate and maintain assigned tools and equipment in a safe and proper manner
Using a personal computer including Microsoft Office, Open Office or similar word processing programs, e-mail, and the internet
Accepting responsibility for his/her actions
Performing work accurately and thoroughly
Following instructions, safety practices, and standard operating procedures in performing assigned tasks
Being punctual and attending work regularly
Working effectively with people regardless of their race, sex, color, religion, national origin, age, disability, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, veteran's status, genetics, or job type
Must possess mobility to work outside and in various City buildings and facilities
Strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium physical work, operate varied hand and power tools and related equipment
Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen
Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio
Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate the above-mentioned tools and equipment
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 50 pounds
