Akkodis is seeking a Developer for a Contract with a client in Sunnyvale, CA. The role involves designing, building, and deploying cloud-native microservices using Java/Spring Boot while ensuring scalability and performance in Kubernetes environments.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and deploy reactive, cloud‑native microservices using Java/Spring Boot (and optionally Scala/Go), adhering to RESTful principles and microservice best practices
Architect highly scalable, fault‑tolerant, and high‑performance services for Kubernetes environments on public clouds (e.g., GCP, Azure), including service mesh and autoscaling considerations
Implement robust testing and quality practices—unit/integration tests with JUnit/Mockito, contract testing, CI/CD pipelines, and code reviews—to ensure reliability and maintainability
Optimize performance and resiliency through effective multithreading, non‑blocking I/O, caching, and tuning of networking, JVM, and container resources
Design data models and integrate with SQL/NoSQL databases (e.g., Oracle, Cassandra, Azure Cosmos DB), ensuring consistency, partitioning strategies, and efficient query patterns
Establish observability and operational excellence with centralized logging, metrics, tracing, health checks, and runbooks; enforce security/compliance via secrets management, TLS, and least‑privilege IAM

Required

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field

Experience designing and deploying cloud‑native applications on Kubernetes with SQL/NoSQL databases such as Oracle, Cassandra, or Azure Cosmos DB
