Start in 2026 SpringThe City of Avondale is offering a unique, paid internship program in the Marketing and Public Relations Department. The Digital Media Intern will support the development of digital media through storytelling and content creation to educate residents about City programs and initiatives.

Responsibilities
Support the development of digital media for the City through storytelling, utilizing video, photos, graphics, and writing
Film and edit video projects, take photos at City events, and assist in creating graphics and captions
Develop social media campaigns, short- and long-form video, and assist in the production of the RAVE magazine
Qualification
Required
Must be currently enrolled at an accredited community college or four-year college/university
Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire
Proficient in Microsoft Office products
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud programs, including Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Illustrator
Must be comfortable using a camera for photos and videography
Proficient in creating social media posts for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and NextDoor, including writing captions, selecting imagery, and filming short-form videos
Strong written and interpersonal communication skills to help write short captions, scripts, and communicate with stakeholders
Proficient in creating engaging content that promotes City programs, services, events, and initiatives
Preferred
Interest in local government and the operational focus of the hosting department
Strong organizational and time management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication
Experience or interest in community outreach and public engagement
Comfort working with surveys, data collection, and online tools
Ability to create clear, compelling presentations
A collaborative and flexible mindset
