Environmental Engineering Trainee
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking an Environmental Engineering Trainee to join the Department of Environmental Protection. This role focuses on the investigation and remediation of hazardous sites while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and includes a 12-month training period to prepare for responsibilities as an Environmental Engineering Specialist.

Responsibilities
Serve as a scientific advisor and engineering expert for the Hazardous Sites Cleanup Section and Facilities Section
Independently analyze and address engineering challenges faced by associates
Review both general and detailed technical aspects related to soil and groundwater remediation efforts
Manage water and air emissions resulting from cleanups and associated activities
Conduct independent assessments of plans for the installation of air pollution control systems
Identify violations of Commonwealth regulations
Perform source sampling and investigate operational processes within plants
Recommend modifications aimed at minimizing air pollutant emissions
Provide comprehensive engineering evaluations of design documents, including drawings and technical calculations
Analyze and interpret engineering data pertaining to Federal and State hazardous sites
Offer informed recommendations for remediation strategies
Review permit applications related to Municipal, Residual, and Hazardous Waste Management
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, or in any engineering field that includes or is supplemented by 9 credits in environmental engineering
One year of experience in environmental engineering, and possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists
Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits
This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license
You must meet the PA residency requirement
You must be able to perform essential job functions
