Cable Technician

They are seeking a Cable Technician to support DISA JSP ETM in Arlington, VA, responsible for maintaining telecommunications and network cabling infrastructure, ensuring compliance with standards, and conducting regular audits.

Responsibilities
Familiar with BICSI rules, regulations, and standards
Knowledge in the use of network cabling test equipment including network testers, copper cable testers, fiber OTDRs and fiber power meters
Analyze, administer, and maintain telecommunications and network cabling infrastructure
Ensure the baseline configuration of all network assets and point-to-point circuits, are documented, and configured according to DoD and JSP engineering standards
Ensure all systems are properly baselined, tested, and validated in accordance with DISA’s STIG prior to deployment
Conduct regular audits and quality checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of network assets and configurations
Use cable testing equipment, such as cable testers, multimeters, and optical power meters
Familiarity with cable management techniques to ensure neat and organized cable runs
Provide a basic understanding of IP networking concepts, including TCP/IP, subnetting, and VLANs
Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces, adhering to safety protocols at all times
Analyze, administer, and maintain telecommunications and network cabling infrastructure
Dress, terminate, and test cables and components
Ability to work with power tools and ladders
Test, locate, install, and repair cabling infrastructure associated with trouble calls, and perform routine maintenance
Install, maintain, and repair voice and data communications systems
Identify, track, and remove abandoned cable, and keep cable neatly tied and bundled while maintaining safety standards
Qualification
Required
2-4 Years Experience
Data Cabling Installer (DCI) certification
Fiber Optics Installer (FOIC) certification
Must possess Secret clearance
