Responsibilities
Own and evolve backend-first systems (Go-based services; strong Java/Python/C engineers ramp in ~30–45 days)
Design event-driven, distributed systems that handle real throughput and real dollars
Make architectural decisions that go straight to production - not roadmaps that sit for quarters
Influence everything from data models to reliability to how the company scales engineering
No bureaucracy or internal politics - no committees, no multi-department approvals, no waiting weeks to ship; decisions are fast and ownership is real
Qualification
Required
Expertise in Go, Java, Python, or C# (the backend services are in Go but the CTO can ramp a strong dev in 30-45 days)
Event-driven system architecture experience + strong design experience
Experience with efficient SQL and design scalable relational schemas
Contribute to production reliability, observability, and CI/CD pipelines
Preferred
AWS experience preferred
Prior payments experience with data encryption experience
