Independent Field Service Technician (Contractor)

Precision Installs LLC is seeking experienced Independent Installation Technicians and Low-Voltage Specialists across the United States to join their network of field partners. The role involves the professional installation of aftermarket telemetry, fleet management, and safety systems on industrial material handling equipment, working independently on client sites within a local or regional service area.

Responsibilities

Install Hardware: Mount and secure telemetry units, impact sensors, access control keypads, Wi-Fi radios, and safety lights (blue lights/strobes) on various forklift makes and models
Electrical Integration: Tap into vehicle power sources (12V–80V systems), connect ignition sense, and interface with CAN bus systems where required
Cable Management: Professional routing, looming, and securing of all wiring to prevent damage during vehicle operation
Commissioning: Verify system connectivity, calibrate sensors, and test functionality using a mobile app or laptop
Documentation: Complete digital installation checklists, capture "before and after" photos, and obtain customer sign-offs

Required

Strong understanding of DC electrical systems (12V to 48V+), relay logic, and safe wire termination techniques (soldering, crimping, heat shrink)
Ability to disassemble dashboard panels and drill mounting holes into metal overhead guards without damaging the equipment
Must be a registered business entity (LLC, Sole Proprietorship, etc.) with a valid EIN
Must carry General Liability Insurance (Minimum $[1,000,000] coverage)
Must possess your own full set of professional tools, including: Multimeter, crimpers, wire strippers, soldering iron, drills, impact driver, unibits, and taps, PPE (Safety vest, steel-toed boots, safety glasses)
Reliable work vehicle capable of transporting equipment and tools to job sites
Must have a laptop and/or smartphone for programming units and submitting reports

Preferred

Experience with forklifts, aerial lifts, or heavy equipment is highly preferred
Experience with brands like Crown, Raymond, Toyota, or Hyster is a plus
