Responsibilities
Assemble, test, and maintain HV/UHV vacuum systems that support cutting-edge plasma development
Own vacuum integrity —leak detection, troubleshooting, repair, and continuous improvement
Translate R&D builds into production-ready systems, collaborating closely with engineering and manufacturing
Design and document mechanical layouts for chambers, manifolds, and supporting hardware
Install and configure digital controls and data logging for vacuum instrumentation
Develop procedures for setup, operation, and preventive maintenance so systems are reliable and repeatable
Support prototype builds through performance testing, refinement, and production transition
Contribute practical design feedback on manufacturability, serviceability, and safety
Qualification
Required
Equivalent hands-on experience OR technical degree
Experience working with vacuum systems (assembly, leak checking, troubleshooting, repair)
Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort in lab and light manufacturing environments
Ability to document work clearly and collaborate across engineering and manufacturing teams
U.S. Citizenship (required for facility and project access)
Preferred
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field
Experience with HV/UHV systems, helium leak detection, and system bakeouts
Familiarity with vacuum pumps, gauges, valves, seals, and fittings
Experience with LabVIEW or similar data acquisition and control systems
Proficiency with 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks
