Law Clerk II

Scalence L.L.C. is seeking a Law Clerk II to perform complex legal research and assist attorneys with litigation. The role involves preparing draft legal documents and reviewing documents for relevance and privilege under the direction of a Supervisory Paralegal or Project Manager.

Responsibilities

Works under the direction of a Supervisory Paralegal or Project Manager performing complex legal research; preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, etc.; reviewing documents for relevance and privilege; and assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation
Acts independently and/or as a team leader on larger projects
Responsibilities may include acting as primary interface with trial attorneys, experts, and other client staff

Required

JD required
Requires Law degree, or currently attending an ABA accredited law school, having completed at least two years of study or, an equivalent level of legal training or experience; or an equivalent level of education may be substituted
Must have at least two years of progressively more responsible experience on litigation support projects or task order related projects including proven capabilities and communication skills to successfully interact with clients and attorneys
Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources
Requires excellent written and oral communication skills
Thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw
Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging
Hands-on familiarity with Client tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources
Extensive legal writing (for example, in the form of legal memoranda, briefs, related correspondence)
Ability to perform legal research
High level of attention to detail as it pertains to legal writing
Ability to work on-site 5 days a week at a client site
MUST be DMV located and can commute to Downtown D.C
