Water Infrastructure Cybersecurity Analyst
General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking an entry-level Cybersecurity Analyst to support technical cybersecurity efforts for drinking water and wastewater utilities. The role involves assessing and improving the cybersecurity posture of critical water infrastructure across the U.S., while providing training and mentorship in real-world IT and OT environments.

Responsibilities
Use a web-based cybersecurity platform to identify internet-exposed and vulnerable IT and OT assets at drinking water and wastewater utilities
Review system documentation and inventories to develop and modify queries that help identify cybersecurity vulnerabilities
Conduct regular cybersecurity vulnerability scanning of water utility systems, including:
Information Technology (IT) environments
Operational Technology (OT) / Industrial Control Systems (ICS), such as SCADA, PLCs, HMIs, and RTUs
Learn and use cybersecurity scanning and asset discovery tools in accordance with EPA and task order procedures
Analyze scan results to identify vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and potential security risks
Prepare clear, well-organized reports summarizing assets, vulnerabilities, and potential impacts for EPA and other government customers
Assist in identifying, analyzing, and prioritizing vulnerabilities based on risk to critical infrastructure and operational impact
Monitor and assess emerging cybersecurity threats relevant to water sector OT systems
Work both independently and as part of an established cybersecurity team
Meet project deadlines in a structured, compliance-driven government environment
Qualification
Required
Understanding of network fundamentals (e.g., TCP/IP, basic routing and switching)
Proficiency with query languages or query-based interfaces used for data analysis or asset discovery
A strong interest in learning IT and OT cybersecurity
Ability to learn and apply new cybersecurity scanning and monitoring software
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially for documenting technical findings
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Ability to perform effectively in a deadline-driven environment
Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity or computer science
0–2 years of experience, education, or training in cybersecurity, information technology, computer science, or a related field
Exposure to vulnerability scanning tools, asset discovery platforms, or cybersecurity analysis tools (through coursework, labs, internships, or work experience)
U.S. citizenship required
Preferred
CompTIA A+ certification or equivalent foundational IT certification
Familiarity with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, NIST SP 800-series, or CISA guidance
Coursework with industrial control systems or critical infrastructure cybersecurity
Additional certifications (or progress toward), such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, or GIAC GICSP
