The State of Alaska is seeking an Accounting Technician 3 to join the Department of Family and Community Services. This role involves providing financial support by processing financial documents and encumbrance requests, as well as serving as the main contact for Reimbursable Service Agreements (RSA).

Responsibilities

Provides financial support to the department such as researching, reviewing and processing Reimbursable Service Agreement (RSA) and accounts payable financial documents
Provide technical support to our Division by processing encumbrance requests, Department cash receipts deposits, and journal entries
Perform tasks independently, prioritize work assignments, and will be the main contact for RSA

Required

Two years of technical level accounting or bookkeeping experience, of which at least one year was at the full-proficiency level
Certification as an Accounting Technician from an accredited college will substitute for one year of the required experience at the non-full-proficiency level
Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for up to one year of the required experience at the non-full-proficiency level (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours in Accounting
Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required two years of experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 9 semester/12 quarter hours at or above the 200 level in Accounting
An associate's degree in Accounting or Business Administration from an accredited college will substitute for the required two years of experience if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours at or above the 200 level in Accounting

Preferred

Accounting Operations: Knowledge of general ledger accounting and the control/subsidiary account relationships and reconciliation techniques, including accounts receivable, account payable, and disbursing officer's accountability
Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: Uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one's knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary
Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail
Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cue, and responds appropriately
