Growth Manager
Peterson Academy is an online learning platform offering long-form, in-depth courses from world-class instructors. They are seeking a Growth Manager to take ownership of paid media and growth channels to scale enrollments and drive high-intent traffic through strategic media buying and performance analysis.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute comprehensive growth and media buying strategies aligned with our mission to reach intellectually serious audiences and drive enrollments
Own end-to-end management of paid campaigns across digital platforms (Meta, Google, TikTok, X, YouTube, LinkedIn) and explore/test traditional channels (streaming audio, podcast networks, radio)
Plan, negotiate, launch, and optimize media buys with precise targeting, audience segmentation, creative iteration, and budget management focused on enrollment conversions and ROAS
Conduct deep performance analysis: track KPIs (CPA, ROAS, LTV, conversion rates, attribution), run A/B tests, identify inefficiencies, and implement real-time optimizations
Collaborate with creative teams, instructors, and content leads to develop compelling ad assets—short videos, audio spots, graphics, and landing pages—that reflect our clear, no-nonsense voice
Research and test emerging channels and formats (streaming platforms, podcast advertising, audio/radio buys) to expand reach while maintaining efficiency
Stay ahead of platform updates, auction dynamics, privacy changes, and competitor tactics to keep our approach aggressive and effective
Report weekly/monthly on performance with clear insights, forecasts, and actionable recommendations to leadership
Identify opportunities for partnerships, retargeting sequences, lookalike audiences, and cross-channel funnels that align with our high-intent, values-driven audience
Qualification
Required
4+ years of professional media buying and growth marketing experience (agency or in-house, ideally in education, tech, DTC, or mission-driven brands)
Proven track record as a media buyer delivering measurable results—share specific metrics/case studies (e.g., scaled campaigns to $X spend with Y% ROAS, reduced CPA by Z%, etc.)
Strong hands-on expertise in digital ad platforms (Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads, TikTok Ads, etc.), including audience building, pixel tracking, creative testing, and optimization
Comfortable managing six-figure+ monthly ad budgets with a sharp focus on efficiency and ROI
Excellent analytical skills: fluent in key metrics (CPA, ROAS, CTR, conversion rate, attribution models) and tools like Google Analytics, platform dashboards, or third-party trackers
Self-directed and results-oriented; able to prioritize ruthlessly in a fast-moving startup environment
Strong communication and writing skills to craft ad copy and collaborate on creative briefs
Preferred
Direct experience buying media for video streaming platforms as well as audio (Spotify, YouTube Music, etc.), podcast networks (Megaphone, Libsyn Ads, etc.), or traditional radio
Familiarity with education, intellectual content, or high-consideration products where long-term LTV matters
Experience with advanced targeting (custom audiences, lookalikes, retargeting) and creative performance testing
Tools knowledge: Ads platforms + Google Tag Manager, Looker/Amplitude for deeper analytics, or project tools like Asana
Interest in philosophy, psychology, classical education, or discourse-focused topics
