Responsibilities

Direct the overall maintenance and engineering support for Duke Clinical or Medical Research facilities and systems; establish and maintain a routine and preventive maintenance program for the outlying buildings and research facilities and supporting systems
Coordinate proactive planning for special maintenance, upgrade and renovation projects; monitor the execution, completion and inspection of projects
Consult and collaborate with other departments, administration, contractor support, and vendors in determining building needs for both short- and long-term planning
Coordinate resolution for special maintenance and construction problems and assist user in determining priorities for changes as needed
Review plans, specifications and equipment; inspect facilities and ensure compliance with JCAHO, NFPA, OSHA, AALAC and other state and federal codes and regulations
Manage various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, discipline, firing, performance evaluations, promotions, transfers, training, and scheduling
Perform Other Duties Incidental To The Job As Required

Required

Prior Experience In a Hospital/healthcare Setting Required
Demonstrated supervisory/leadership experience required
B.S. degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Management or equivalent degree applicable to facility management
Requires a minimum of 8 years of related engineering and management experience in a large healthcare organization in facilities management
Excellent Communication And Leadership Skills Required
