RESEARCH SCHOLAR
Duke University School of Medicine is seeking a short-term Research Scholar to join Dr. Valdivia’s lab for an NIH-funded project. The role involves understanding the role of secreted exopolysaccharides in controlling the transport of secreted proteins by the probiotic microbe Akkermansia muciniphila.

Computational characterization of protein folding models across Akkermansia proteins
Characterization of putative glycosylation sites on secreted Akkermansia proteins
Data interpretation and assembly of a manuscript describing the findings
Qualification
Required
PhD in a relevant field
Preferred
Experience with anaerobic bacteria
Molecular genetic tools
Protein expression and purification
Advanced computational experience in structural modeling
