SUPERVISORY QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (SHIPBUILDING)

Responsibilities

You will plan and oversee implementation of training programs to develop and maintain capability in newer procedures and modifications of older procedures
You will review work of subordinates in relation to branch and division objectives to ensure conformance to established quality objectives and practices
You will develop metrics to provide predictive tools for identifying contractor performance and government oversight deficiencies and develop corrective actions to address the identified issues
You will manage the CAQAP Corrective Action program within the Navy Maintenance Data system (NMD) including the investigation of complex quality issues, develop, issue, and track availability level A and B CAR

Required

Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program

Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326
Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics
You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport
You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying the full range of engineering, principles, concepts, and methodology related to ship repair/shipbuilding quality assurance programs
Experience inspecting work accomplished and oversight of contracted services in the area of visual inspection (VT) and dye-penetrant testing (PT)
Experience planning and managing a quality control program while maintaining good working relationships with contracted shipyards and their subcontractors
Experience investigating, analyzing and effecting corrective action on complex quality problems
Experience reading and interpreting contract specifications and engineering drawings, preparing written reports, and making oral presentations
Experience training other organizations, such as ship forces personnel, implementing the Quality Assurance Program during their ship's availability
