Lead Internal Communications
L.A. Care Health Plan is the nation’s largest publicly operated health plan, dedicated to providing health coverage to low-income residents of Los Angeles County. The Lead of Internal Communications is responsible for developing and executing internal communication strategies that enhance employee engagement and support organizational priorities.

Responsibilities
Responsible for the production and distribution of L.A. Care’s daily employee e-newsletter, including content planning, writing, editing, formatting, and scheduling
Support and maintain intranet content, ensuring timely updates, accuracy, and alignment with organizational messaging
Monitor performance metrics for internal channels and recommend improvements based on analytics and employee feedback
Write, edit, and format messaging for internal audiences, including news items, talking points, scripts, posters, presentations, FAQs, and other collateral
Ensure messaging is culturally competent, accessible, and aligned with brand guidelines and regulatory requirements
Maintain editorial calendars and contribute to campaign planning and rollout
Lead assigned internal communications projects and campaigns
Serve as liaison to Human Resources for organizational messaging needs
Build relationships with internal departments and senior leaders to support communications efforts across the enterprise
Provide consultation and support to workgroups and departments to produce high-quality internal messaging
Assist with internal promotion of community events, health initiatives, and employee volunteer opportunities
Lead on Internal Communications Podio Environment
Monitor performance metrics across internal communication channels and translate insights into actionable improvements
Report on campaign impact, audience engagement, and stakeholder feedback
Stay ahead of internal communications trends and emerging platforms
Lead the work of assigned staff; regularly assigns and checks the work of others, providing guidance, training, and feedback on performance to department management
Assist management in the oversight of the daily office workflow, recommend enhancements to process and procedures
Guide the assigned staff in ensuring that the team's work is completed effectively
May assist in the assigning tasks and communicating project goals
Responsible for the day-to-day execution and implementation of projects and tasks
Facilitate team dynamics, motivate assigned staff, and foster an environment conducive to effective collaboration and productivity
Provide direct guidance, instruction and support specific projects or tasks
Participate in team problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution
Manage complex projects, engaging and updating key stakeholders, developing timelines, lead others to complete deliverables on time and ensure implementation upon approval
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Communications or Related Field
At least 4 years of professional experience in internal communications, employee engagement, or corporate communications
Proven successful experience developing and executing internal messaging strategies that support business goals, public health, organizational culture, and employee experience—preferably in healthcare, nonprofit, or government settings
Strong background experience writing, editing, and formatting content for internal audiences across multiple formats
Experience managing daily communications channels such as employee newsletters and intranet platforms
Experience collaborating with Human Resources, executive leadership, and cross-functional teams to support enterprise-wide initiatives
Experience ensuring communications projects meet stated objectives and deadlines
Conflict resolution and motivational skills
Skilled in fostering teamwork and collaboration
Ability to work closely with a team in a collaborative and interactive environment
Ability to adjust to changing circumstances within the team
Good verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrate strong writing, editing, and digital storytelling skills with the ability to craft compelling, audience-focused content across platforms
Ability to successfully build relationships with both internally and externally key stakeholders to achieve communications goals
Ability to align internal messaging with external organizational goals, culture, and employee engagement strategies
Skilled in managing intake systems, setting expectations, and tracking deliverables
Proven ability to develop new and lead existing internal communications campaigns, programs, and vehicles
Proven ability to maintain a production/content calendar for multiple internal communications vehicles
Proven ability to manage a daily e-newsletter using email newsletter platforms
Ability to engage employees through newsletters, intranet content, and organizational messaging that supports culture and business goals
Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, adapt to shifting priorities, and lead with resilience and clarity
Proven ability to manage high-volume workloads and multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of internal communications best practices
Strong knowledge and understanding of healthcare communications, employee engagement, and internal messaging with the ability to connect with diverse audiences and support L.A. Care's commitment to improving health outcomes across Los Angeles County
Preferred
Experience using content management platforms
