Assistant Deli Manager

Responsibilities

Welcome and greet customers when entering or leaving the deli department
Answer customer questions, help locate items, and provide recommendations
Train employees in food safety and sanitation procedures
Maintain inventory levels of food and nonfood items such as paper goods, condiments, and cleaning supplies
Schedule shifts, hiring staff members, interviewing new candidates, and training new hires
Communicate with suppliers to coordinate product deliveries and monitor inventory levels
Oversee daily food preparation activities including slicing meats, wrapping sandwiches, and preparing salads
Ensure that all food products are stored at appropriate temperatures to prevent spoilage or contamination
Perform administrative tasks such as ordering supplies, maintaining records of employees’ hours worked, and scheduling shifts
Control labor costs by monitoring employee timecards and payroll records
Manage the operations of a deli counter, including ordering inventory and setting prices on items sold
Fill in for the Deli Manager in case of their absence as needed
Perform other duties to ensure the overall success of our company
