GMHBC Manager

Responsibilities
Maintains an enthusiastic atmosphere focused on fast and friendly customer service
Assists customers and makes product suggestions
Engages in suggestive selling through phone calls, intercom announcements, and customer interaction
Answers incoming calls, responds appropriately, and resolves customer complaints; escalates to Store Director when needed
Acts as the person in charge of the entire store in the absence of the Store Director
Plans GM daily operations and monitors production processes following company procedures and profitability goals
Builds GM/HBC displays, rotates stock, and removes outdated or spoiled product. Ensures cleanliness of the department
Implements effective promotional and seasonal displays
Follows and maintains department standards and requirements
Monitors employee productivity and evaluates performance
Schedules employees to ensure adequate coverage and service levels
Has full knowledge of all department positions, including opening and closing duties
Schedules, supervises, trains, and assigns duties to department employees
Trains employees in store policies, sales processes, and record-keeping procedures
Identifies and develops employees with potential for advancement
Maintains knowledge of company policies and guidelines in the Employee Handbook
Ensures proper code dating on all department products
Initiates personnel actions including interviews, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary measures
Prepares sales and inventory reports; participates in physical inventory every six months
Controls inventory quantity, quality, freshness, and maintains levels according to division directives. Stocks and rotates product
Orders general merchandise product and manages inventory levels as directed. Oversees reclamation processing and maintains orderly backroom and Drug Department areas
Controls shrink and costs
Uses equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, and safety cutters
Performs receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying orders, checking quality, reporting shortages, stocking, and rotating product. Follows temperature, storage, and packaging guidelines
Completes, maintains, and monitors daily logs, sales and labor reports, and required documentation
Ensures proper product temperatures and compliance with labeling laws, regulations, and company policies
Follows workplace safety rules and ensures a clean, sanitary work area, coolers, equipment, and displays
Follows emergency procedures for equipment or software malfunctions
Uses computer software and electronic ordering devices
Attends and participates in sales meetings; communicates goals, performance updates, and sales opportunities to employees
Ensures compliance with grooming and dress code standards
Performs all duties safely, accurately, and with honesty and integrity
Performs other assigned duties as needed
Qualification
Required
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to maintain professional demeanor
Good understanding of overall company practices and GM/HBC policies and procedures
Ability to lift, reach, and maneuver objects up to 50 lbs; frequent bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and repetitive motions required
Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination required. Able to stand for long periods
Must stay mentally alert to ensure safe and accurate work. Requires basic math skills and knowledge of weights and measures
Must understand product variety, perishability, handling, sanitation, labeling, and department procedures
Operates phones, pallet jacks, hand trucks, knives, scissors, safety cutters, cleaning supplies, and equipment
Uses computer software and electronic ordering devices
Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays; schedule varies; good attendance required
