Systems Administrator
The Honolulu Museum of Art is a cultural institution dedicated to art and education, serving the community since 1927. They are seeking a Systems Administrator to support technology operations across systems, networks, security, and applications in a Microsoft environment, while ensuring operational stability and security.
Education
Responsibilities
Monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the museum’s physical and virtual servers, including operating systems, hardware, and services
Supporting the security, availability and replication of servers and core services, and the maintenance and optimization of identity and access management
Serving as escalation point for issues, resolving advanced technical problems across systems, devices, and applications
Working cross-functionally with IT staff on infrastructure, networking, cloud services, security hardening, and performance improvements
Supporting incident response activities by isolating affected systems and participating in remediation when security issues are identified
Configuration and deployment of operating systems, applications, and client tools
Contributing to process improvements, automation of routine tasks, and maintaining accurate system and support documentation
Mobile Device Management (MDM) policy configuration and deployment
Managing and administering client patching processes
Troubleshooting and resolving end-user support issues and requests in a timely and professional manner
Supporting VOIP phone systems, including basic endpoint troubleshooting and coordination with the vendor as needed
Supporting IT security policies and best practices
Supporting the operability and security of the museum's overall systems and networks at two locations
Assisting with backup operations to maintain organizational data integrity
Supporting disaster recovery testing and documentation
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and at least two years of comprehensive related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Broad knowledge of administration in Windows Server and virtual machine environments
Strong knowledge of Active Directory and Microsoft 365 administration
Strong experience with WindowsOS, MacOS, and iOS device management and troubleshooting
Demonstrated knowledge of TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP and basic security concepts
Must be able to quickly troubleshoot, test, and provide multiple solutions to complex problems
Ability to document procedures and follow established standards
Ability to quickly learn new hardware/software and provide timely, professional support
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as a team, adaptable to the needs of staff and policy changes
Ability to work with diplomacy and tact in response to difficult situations
Must be able to respond to system outages during off-hours as needed
Honesty, integrity, enthusiasm, perspective, and a strong work ethic supported by commitment and follow-through
Ability to work within and support a diverse community of visitors, artists, and employees
Preferred
An advanced degree in a related field, such Information & Computer Sciences, Cybersecurity or related certifications
Experience with central endpoint management, configuration, and deployment of devices
Familiarity with PowerShell scripting, automation, and SQL Server
Experience and knowledge with Azure Active Directory / Entra Identity Management, and Intune and Autopilot deployment
Familiarity with Windows Hyper-V Server administration, NAS/SAN storage, and backup appliances, Ticketing and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software, and POS (Point of Sale) software
Experience with enterprise switching and wireless platforms (Cisco, Unifi, Meraki, or similar)
Experience with Ethernet cabling, installation and troubleshooting (Cat5/Cat6)
Experience with conference room systems and audio/video technology
Experience in a museum environment or nonprofit organization
