Patient Service Representative (Phones) – South County
Esse Health is the largest independent physician practice in the St. Louis Metropolitan area, serving nearly 130,000 patients. They are currently seeking a full-time Patient Service Representative to answer incoming calls for providers and assist with front desk duties, ensuring quality customer service and effective communication with patients.

Responsibilities
Answering incoming calls for 9 providers
Asking pertinent questions related to patient symptoms and relaying this information to the provider
Projecting a positive and professional image over the phone and in all interactions with patients and coworkers
Covering the front desk and check-in/out as trained
Qualification
Required
Ability to multi-task and stay organized
Strong desire to deliver quality customer service
Ability to communicate effectively with patients, both on the telephone and in person, including patients who are angry or upset
Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Ability to sit at a desk and answer the telephone/perform data entry up to 8 hours a day
Proficient with Windows-based PC environment
Preferred
Formal training which will probably be indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent
1 or more years of experience working with the public, preferably in a healthcare setting
Knowledge of medical terminology
Knowledge of the different types of health insurance plans; i.e. HMO's, PPO's, etc
Ability to recognize priority or emergency phone calls
