Human Resources Manager

Virginia's Community College System is seeking a Human Resources Manager to join Tidewater Community College, which has been a vital educational institution in South Hampton Roads for over 50 years. The Human Resources Manager will provide support to the Associate Vice President of Human Resources and oversee critical HR functions such as benefits administration, employee relations, and training and development while ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Oversees critical HR functions including benefits administration, employee relations, and training and development
Ensures HR operations are delivered with excellence, consistency, and compliance with Commonwealth of Virginia policies, VCCS guidelines, and TCC procedures
Acts as the primary backup to the Associate Vice President of Human Resources in their absence
May be required to perform other duties as assigned
May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor

Required

Demonstrated experience in human resources management, including benefits, employee relations, and training and development
Knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and best practices

Strong presentation skills
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
Experience conducting investigations and resolving workplace issues
Experience developing and delivering training programs
Proficiency with HR information systems and Microsoft Office applications
Experience at the supervisory level in an HR program

Preferred

Experience working in higher education or public-sector HR
Familiarity with and ability to interpret Commonwealth of Virginia, VCCS, and TCC policies and procedures
Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM -SCP, PHR, SPHR)
