ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT II

Thurston County Government is seeking an Administrative Assistant II for their Fiscal Division. The role involves providing a full range of administrative and technical support, enhancing process improvements, and contributing to critical Fiscal Office operations.

Responsibilities

Provide full administrative and technical support for the Fiscal Office including functions relating to the development and monitoring of departmental budgets, policy and procedures, and process improvements
Prepare financial records; compile data and prepare estimates, statements, statistical reports, billings, and other business reports
Research and draft recommendations on policies, procedures, and activities within the Department/Fiscal Office
Perform research and compile data
Design databases and other programs to track and analyze information and prepares materials for presentations, as needed
Handle inquiries and requests by citizens, the Commissioner's Office, or other offices/departments
Serve as a contact point for requests, information gathering, and problem solving
Assist in resolving complaints or requests
Coordinate projects between staff members, and follow up with staff on issues/projects on behalf of the supervisor
May approve routine expenditures
Perform other work as required or assigned, including, but not limited to, a 24/7 response during public health emergency situations and disease outbreak investigations

Required

High School Diploma or GED and one year of college level course work in office support, general business, accounting, or another closely related field
At least three years experience in a senior level office support position, with at least two years experience providing accounting or budgeting support. Additional experience may substitute college education year for year
Ability to use computer equipment and related software programs is required

Knowledge of principles and practices of office management and work organization
Knowledge of governmental accounting principles and practices
Willingness to be pro-active and eager to learn new systems
Excellent organization, attention to detail, adaptability, time management, and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of process improvement methods
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
Ability to analyze complex office problems, and develop and implement sound solutions
