Information Technology Engineer

DataSoftNow, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled IT Engineer Specialist / CMMC Certified Assessor (CCA) to support both internal and client IT engineering operations and formal CMMC Level 2 certification assessments. This role combines hands-on technical infrastructure expertise with assessor-level responsibilities performed in accordance with the CMMC Assessment Process (CAP).

Responsibilities

Manage, monitor, and maintain the company’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, firewalls, workstations, and cloud services
Ensure the security and integrity of systems through the implementation of best practices and compliance with relevant standards
Perform regular system updates, backups, and troubleshooting to minimize downtime
Support end-user devices, including desktops, laptops, and mobile devices, ensuring optimal performance
Assist with the planning and execution of IT projects, including upgrades, migrations, and new deployments
Provide over-all validation of IT governance of infrastructure
Collaborate with the sales team to provide technical expertise during customer engagements
Provide technical expertise during client engagements and assessments
Conduct technical walkthroughs, interviews, and system demonstrations
Translate technical environments into clear, evidence-based assessment outcomes
Collaborate with internal teams including MSP/MSSP, compliance, and assessment staff
Support proposal development, technical documentation, and diagrams as needed (outside of assessments)
Perform CMMC Level 2 certification assessments in accordance with the CMMC Assessment Process (CAP)
Assess all 110 CMMC Level 2 practices (320 objectives) using approved methods (Examine, Interview, Test)
Collect, validate, and document objective-level evidence
Participate in on-site and remote assessments under the direction of a Lead Certified Assessor (CA)
Document findings clearly and defensibly in CMMC assessment tools and reports
Assist with assessment scoring, reporting, and final submission activities
Maintain strict assessor independence and avoid consulting or advisory activities during assessments
Adhere to the CMMC-AB Code of Professional Conduct and confidentiality requirements
Participate in internal quality assurance and peer review processes

Required

Active CMMC Certified Assessor (CCA) credential in good standing
Strong knowledge of: NIST SP 800-171 Rev. 2, CMMC Level 2 practices and objectives, NIST SP 800-171A assessment methodology
Hands-on experience with: Windows Server & Windows 10/11, Active Directory & Group Policy, Microsoft Intune, AWS and/or Azure, Virtualization (VMware / Hyper-V), VPN and secure network configurations
Familiarity with cybersecurity tools and platforms such as: ConnectWise (ScreenConnect), CyberCNS / vulnerability management tools
Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience
5+ years of IT administration experience, with a strong understanding of system and network administration
Proficiency in Windows Server, Active Directory, virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware or Hyper-V), and cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS)
Microsoft Intune policies, Active Directory Group Policies
Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, CMMC)
Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell
Windows 10/11 Desktops and Laptops
SSL-VPN setup and administer
CMMC Certified Assessor (CCA)
ConnectWise (Screen Connect)
SecureConnect (CyberCNS, Vulnerability Management)
U.S. Citizenship (required)
Ability to pass a basic criminal background check
Ability to meet CMMC-AB and DoD suitability requirements
Willingness to travel for on-site assessments as required
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Exceptional attention to detail and documentation accuracy
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Professional, objective, and assessment-focused mindset

Preferred

Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or similar
NIST SP 800-171 R2, CMMC
Experience working in a support/engineering role
Familiarity with CRM tools and sales processes
Experience in MSP/MSSP or regulated DoD contractor environments
CMMC Certified Assessor (CCA)
Prior CCP or audit/compliance background
Prior experience supporting or participating in formal CMMC assessments
