Responsibilities

Manage plumbing-led scopes from concept through construction, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and budget
Act as a day-to-day technical point of contact for project stakeholders on plumbing and MEP coordination matters
Support project planning, staffing, fee management, and change management activities
Track project progress, deliverables, and deadlines; proactively identify risks and propose solutions
Lead internal coordination efforts and participate in external project meetings as required
Assist with proposal development, scope definition, and fee estimates for plumbing and MEP work
Lead design and documentation of plumbing systems, including domestic water, sanitary, storm, gas, and specialty systems
Develop plumbing system concepts aligned with project requirements, codes, and design standards
Perform plumbing calculations, equipment sizing, fixture counts, and system layouts
Ensure compliance with applicable plumbing codes (UPC/IPC and local amendments)
Prepare and review construction documents, specifications, and technical reports
Coordinate plumbing systems with mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and architectural disciplines
Provide mechanical (HVAC) design support as appropriate based on experience and project needs
Participate in multidisciplinary coordination meetings and BIM/Revit workflows
Support integrated, constructible, and code-compliant MEP design solutions
Participate in site surveys, field investigations, and construction administration activities
Assist with RFIs, submittal reviews, and construction-phase coordination
Mentor junior designers and contribute to internal QA/QC processes

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
Certified Plumbing Designer (CPD) required or actively in progress
5–7 years of plumbing design experience within an MEP consulting environment
Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, codes, and design standards
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for MEP design
Experience producing coordinated construction documents

Preferred

Working knowledge of mechanical (HVAC) systems
Experience leading or supporting plumbing scopes on multidisciplinary MEP projects
Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure
Familiarity with sustainable and energy-efficient design practices
Experience with commercial, residential, healthcare, education, or mixed-use projects
