Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive audits of medical coding, billing, documentation, charge capture, and claim submissions
Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, CMS, and OIG standards
Identify compliance risks, internal control gaps, and potential fraud, waste, or abuse
Prepare detailed audit reports and communicate findings to leadership
Recommend corrective actions and process improvements based on audit results
Assist with investigations and special reviews, including those triggered by regulatory inquiries
Monitor regulatory changes and update audit practices accordingly
Support the maintenance of revenue integrity and promote ethical standards throughout the organization
Handle confidential information with professionalism and integrity
Maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Associate degree from an accredited institution strongly preferred
Professional certification through AAPC or AHIMA strongly preferred: CPC, CPMA, CCS, RHIA, or RHIT
Minimum 3 years of experience in clinical auditing or claims validation within a hospital or ASC setting
Expert knowledge of medical coding classifications: ICD, CPT, and HCPCS
Demonstrated ability to interpret regulatory guidance and apply it to audit processes
Excellent written communication, critical thinking, and analytical skills
Preferred
Strong understanding of DRG, APC, and ASC reimbursement methodologies
