Research Associate I - Optical Physiology
The Allen Institute is dedicated to unlocking the complexities of bioscience to improve human health. They are seeking a Research Associate I to benchmark genetically encoded fluorescent indicators for measuring neural activity in vivo, utilizing various experimental approaches and maintaining compliance with laboratory standards.

Responsibilities
Independently carry out experiments involving fiber photometry and optogenetics
Train mice to perform simple behaviors in an experimental setting
Perform stereotaxic survival surgeries in mice
Section, stain and mount tissue for high resolution confocal microscopy
Follow standardized operating procedures, good laboratory practices, and regulatory requirements
Maintain clear and accurate communication within and between teams
Coordinate with teammates to prioritize tasks and manage project timelines
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience, Biology, Chemistry, or related discipline
Preferred
2 years of experience in a laboratory setting
Practical experience with in vivo optical physiology and/or mouse behavior
Experience performing survival surgeries in laboratory animals
Experience with the operation of research-grade microscopy instrumentation
Experience with the preparation of laboratory reagents, buffers, and aliquots
Experience using precision pipetting equipment
Experience with the application of molecular labeling techniques, such as in situ hybridization or antibody staining to sectioned biological tissue
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Exceptional record keeping and attention to detail
