The New York State Workers' Compensation Board is seeking a Workers' Compensation Examiner to monitor, review, and update employer and carrier data within the IC2 system. The role involves demonstrating knowledge of WC/DB law, processing reports and requests, and assisting carriers with compliance issues.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate a good working knowledge of the WC/DB law, rules, and regulations in relation to employer / carrier compliance issues. Correctly identify issues raised by correspondence or inquiries and provide timely information to all parties
Process DOL reports, transactions, and rejections
Process requests for employer creations, merges, and corrections
Assist carriers with proof of coverage related issues or questions
Processes incoming correspondence and return mail
Responsible for maintaining accuracy of information in IC2 insurer maintenance

Required

Three years of full-time experience in a position where your primary responsibilities included extensive in-person or telephone customer service experience with the general public resolving customer's issues and/or problems; explaining programs/services, policies, or procedures; reconciling accounts; or experience examining, investigating, processing, or adjusting insurance claims; or responding to technical questions from policyholders or claimants
An associate's degree and two years of full-time experience described in #1
A bachelor's degree and one year of full-time experience described in #1
Individuals certified eligible for the 55b/c program under the Governor's Program to Hire Persons/Veterans with Disabilities pursuant to Section 55b/c of the Civil Service Law will also be considered
Candidates must be reachable on the appropriate Civil Service eligible list
Candidates must have one year permanent or 55 b/c service in a title designated as appropriate for transfer in accordance with 70.1 of the Civil Service Law
