Responsibilities

Lead various aspects of Operations Readiness as part of launching new products for Abbott’s Electrophysiology business unit
Engage with development (Research and Development and Process Development) teams to build knowledge for current state operations and use insight to build plans and execute successful design transfers and ramp
Engage with operations (Production and Supply Chain) teams to build ramp plans, new line introduction plans including equipment ordering, receipt, qualification and validation
Drive cross functional engagement to support process, product and equipment improvements
Provide guidance to other engineers and technicians
Provide technical mentorship to engineers and technicians
Conduct Process FMEAs and Process Validations
Improve product quality, labor efficiency, and throughput through the use of Lean manufacturing concepts
Coordinate the design, procurement, build and debug of tooling, machinery and test equipment
Work with Product Development to ensure Design for Manufacturability
Estimates project levels of effort and resource requirements by using standard estimating techniques and tools, and by working with appropriate staff to understand scope of effort
Prepares project plans, schedules and budgets by using project management tools such as Microsoft Project and by working with appropriate staff to understand tasks necessary to complete project
Directs project execution by assigning tasks, tracking project schedules, identifying risks, and developing and executing contingency plans
Communicates project status by preparing standard status reports, and by participating in departmental and customer project status update meetings
Resolves project issues by working with team members, project customers, and others as appropriate
Consults with internal project groups by sharing project management knowledge and assisting or mentoring more junior project leaders in project management processes and techniques
Interfaces with senior management on significant matters, often requiring the coordination of activity across organizational units

Required

Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or any engineering or technical degree or equivalent experience required
Minimum 7 years of experience as an engineer, preferably in the medical device business or other highly regulated industry
Proficient in use of Microsoft Projects, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Demonstration of strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills
Strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills
Demonstrated leadership capability in team settings
Ability to lead and motivate peers, drive change and problem solve with creativity
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to work without direct supervision to accomplish goals and meet schedules
Proven solid work ethic and ability to work well with others as well as independently
Must be open-minded and adaptive to change, promote the collective interests of the team more than self-interest, able to resolve problems in a respectful manner
