Electronic Health Record (EHR) Application Support Specialist

Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois is seeking an Electronic Health Record (EHR) Application Support Specialist to maintain and enhance the functionality of their EHR system. The role involves managing user profiles, developing EHR modules, training staff, and ensuring compliance with data policies.

Responsibilities

Maintains the integrity and functionality of the Agency’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, including setting up new user profiles with appropriate access, deactivating former employees upon their departure, and modifying system infrastructure as needed in a timely way
Responsible for leading the continued development, design, and maintenance of the EHR’s finance module and structural component of the clinical module, which includes how the data interface with or flow to other Agency financial/technology systems
Implements and maintains, for new programs or existing ones, billing work-flow processes in the EHR
Creates and documents procedures for the setup, maintenance, and usage of the EHR processes, including those for the finance module
Trains end user staff on the usage of the EHR processes developed, including those for the Finance module
Assembles and sustains an appropriately accessible “library” of procedures and other DIS department documents
Responsible for scheduling copies of the EHR production database to the development and sandbox databases, informing impacted staff, ensuring occurrence, testing for functionality, and actualizing solutions to any issues encountered
Ensuring the version of the EHR system is as current as possible
Develops and maintains productive relationships with the Client Alignment of the EHR proprietor and Agency team members and enters and monitors the EHR’s ticketing system
Extracts and delivers any client records when requested adhering to all HIPAA regulations
Initiates, maintains, and executes the interaction between internal data from the EHR requiring transmission to external State or Funder systems, including the foundational setups and transmission of data to any of the said systems. These systems include, but are not limited to the IMPACT system, NPPES, and the State IMCANs Database
Continuously increases knowledgebase by regularly participating in the robust user group opportunities offered by the EHR vendor, as well as developing collaborative relationships with staff working with a similar EHR at other human service agencies
Ongoing actualization of the Electronic Health Record system – including functional support and form building
Produces record development/retention procedures – including off site storage and file digitalization when that occurs
Ensure compliance with all data information system policies, procedures, and security standards
Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge of and skilled in Electronic Health Records interfacing capacity with other agencies and partner systems
Ability to work with staff across multiple departments
Familiarity with networking concepts, protocols, and security measures
Managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high customer service standards
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Attention to detail and accuracy in completing tasks
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field preferred
Minimum of two years working with data systems (our current system is myEvolv, experience here would be a big +) and/or project management in child welfare
Knowledge and demonstrated experience working with electronic health records and other similar systems

Capable of operating standard office equipment, including a computer and keyboard, calculator, and typical business machines such as a fax machine and copier
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20-30 pounds
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus
The employee is required to have valid driver's license, auto insurance and must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle
The work environmental characteristics include a noise level which is usually low to moderate
