Senior Electrical Engineer, Physical Substation Design

Responsibilities
The conceptual, preliminary and final detailed design of new, upgraded and expanded medium voltage and high voltage systems including: Electrical Arrangement, Electrical Sections (Elevations), Electrical Connection Details, Below Grade Conduit Plan and Details, Cable Trench Plan and Details, Equipment Grounding Plan and Details, Lightning Protection Plan, Outdoor Illumination Plan, Detailed Bill of Material, Electrical Grounding
Specification and purchase of equipment
Design and construction estimates
Working on project teams supporting all quality and project management goals
Leading, planning, and coordinating projects with limited supervision
Understanding and delivering results based on client specific standards and requirements
Training and developing junior personnel
Leading project teams and interfacing with the customer to deliver a quality product by scheduled delivery date
Act as the OE (Owner’s Engineer) responsible for reviewing designs and supplying design team with requested information to complete a project
Maintain and update engineering standards to ensure high quality products
Assist with Project management to deliver projects on time and within budget
Work with Clients, Salesman, Managers and Engineers to coordinate project designs
Work with sub-consultant(s) to coordinate deliverables
Qualification
Required
8+ years of experience in high and medium voltage design engineering
Knowledge of applicable NEC, NESC, and IEEE/ANSI standards
Design experience in transmission, substation, distribution, or generation
Design experience in medium and high voltage renewable generation interconnections
Experience with electrical equipment such as: MV and LV switchgear, pad mount transformers, Station Class Transformers, panel boards, breakers, protective relays, inverter, battery, battery chargers, disconnect switches, surge arrestors, dead front disconnect switch, medium voltage cable, low voltage cable, control cable, fiber optic cable
Proficiency in computers using Microsoft programs
AutoCAD & REVIT experience
Project management software experience
Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
Engineer in Training (EIT) professional certification, Registered PE preferred
Preferred
M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field
