Lead Software Architect

Solution Community is an international non-profit organization dedicated to enabling actionable change through a global social platform. As the Lead Software Architect, you will guide the engineering team, shape the architecture of the platform, and ensure high-quality code and technical excellence while leading various engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

Own the overall system architecture—front-end, back-end, infrastructure, cloud, and integrations
Design scalable, maintainable, and secure technical foundations for the platform
Guide technical decisions, frameworks, patterns, and standards across the engineering team
Write high-quality code and support critical implementation work when needed
Perform code reviews and enforce clean, reliable, and consistent coding practices
Establish engineering workflows: branching, PR reviews, CI/CD expectations, testing standards
Ensure clarity between product requirements, design specs, and technical execution
Lead and mentor a cross-functional engineering team: full-stack engineers, DevOps engineers, QA engineers, cloud architects, and security engineers
Unblock engineers by diagnosing technical issues and providing architectural direction
Partner with Product (CPO) and Design to ensure alignment between requirements and implementation
Collaborate with QA to ensure coverage, testing strategy, and release readiness
Architect front-end and back-end systems that integrate cleanly across our stack
Guide cloud infrastructure decisions using AWS, Google Cloud, Supabase, and Firebase
Ensure systems are reliable, secure, and future-proof
Oversee repository standards, environment consistency, and deployment workflows
Evaluate complexity, define engineering priorities, and support sprint planning
Maintain clarity in ClickUp by ensuring engineering tasks are structured and ready for execution
Drive strong communication within the Build Team through Slack

Required

8+ years in software engineering, with deep full-stack or backend experience
Strong architectural background, including system design, integrations, and scalability
Startup experience—comfortable building from scratch and iterating fast
Ability to write code, review code, and guide engineers at all levels
Strong understanding of cloud architecture, DevOps pipelines, and modern infrastructure
Experience mentoring engineers and driving technical excellence
Comfortable working closely with Product, Design, and QA teams
Clear communicators who adapt well to a remote, multicultural team
Passion for meaningful impact and mission-driven engineering

Preferred

Experience building MVPs and early-stage products
Experience with security practices for modern web platforms
Background in cloud-native architecture and CI/CD automation
